Colorín Colorado was the first major, comprehensive Web site created to help Spanish-speaking parents teach their children to read. Research shows that reading is the key to success in school and what parents do at home is vitally important in raising a reader. Part of the bilingual parent section is a new electronic newsletter in Spanish to give parents practical and relevant ways to help their children become good readers.
The site also has a free "For Educators" section that was created in collaboration with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). The educator component was designed to help teachers and paraprofessionals meet the growing challenge of teaching Latino English language learners (ELLs) and allow classroom practitioners to tap into an array of research-based resources to address the needs of Latino students.

I am a speech-language pathologist, and I work with many bilingual families. I see young children with delayed communication skill development, and your site enables me to share all the information with the families I meet, regardless of their primary language. Thank you. All the information on your site is family-friendly, and provides additional links for critical information about child development and developmental issues. Also the joy of reading is made easy and fun for all!
