A group of teachers founded AFT to protect their professional interests, benefit the people they served, and create strong local unions affiliated with the labor movement. The AFT has grown into a trade union representing workers in education, health care, and public service.
Capitol Region Education Council (CT)
CREC began as a grassroots organization of local school districts in Connecticut working together to solve common problems. Its mission is to work with boards of education of the Capitol Region to improve the quality of public education for all learners.
Crosscultural Developmental Education Services
CCDES is a company that works with school districts, teachers, and parents around the United States and Canada, offering technical assistance, professional development, and numerous tools and resources. CCDES, founded by Dr. Catherin Collier in 1987, specializes in ESL, LEP and Special Education issues as well as an emphasis on Parent Education and Empowerment.
The Minnesota Humanities Center conducts professional development opportunities; creates and disseminates educational resources; partners with other organizations to offer humanities programs statewide; and operates a full-service meeting and event center.
National Network of Partnership Schools

WestEd's Schools Moving Up webinar series is available for viewing in the program archives, where you can watch and listen to full web presentations by leaders in the field of school improvement. State Education Resource Center (CT)
SERC is a nonprofit agency primarily funded by the Connecticut State Department of Education. SERC provides professional development and information dissemination in the latest research and best practices to educators, service providers, and families throughout the state, as well as job-embedded technical assistance and training within schools, programs, and districts.
