ELL Module: Learning Students' Names
This free learning module from Colorín Colorado is available for individual and group professional development. In this learning module, you will:
- Learn how to ensure students' names are said and written correctly
- Learn how to teach students to politely correct mispronunciation
- Learn about strategies and activities that celebrate students' names
What You Need to Know
- This module will take one hour to complete.
- A downloadable certificate for 1 hour of professional learning is available after completing the quiz for this module.
- Additional professional learning activities, discussion questions, and a slide deck are available below.
- You are also welcome to submit these modules to your district or state for approval as part of professional learning programs.
Lessons and Quiz
All lessons in this section will be included in the quiz at the end of the module. We recommend completing the lessons in order. There are four lessons and each lesson takes 10-15 minutes to complete.
Professional Learning
There are many ways you can use this module to support professional learning:
- Activities and Discussion: Activities may be used by schools, districts, and higher education programs in training, for assignments, or for learning artifacts that can be submitted to professional learning programs.
- Professional Development: You can use the free slide deck to offer training and do turnkey sessions. In addition, participants can take the module quiz to get the certificate after you deliver the slide deck.
