Immigration Stories
These booklists capture a wide variety of immigrant experiences, from inspections at Ellis and Angel Island to celebrating Chinese New Year in New York's Chinatown.
While most of the books are set in the U.S., some are set in other countries that have received immigrants or where immigrants have returned to visit loved ones.
We hope that these selections enhance classroom discussions of immigration, whether as part of a formal lesson plan or an informal conversation about students' own experiences and family history.
A number of related stories about immigrant children learning English are included in our ELL Stories booklist.
