Pura Belpré Award

This award is named after Pura Belpré, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. The Pura Belpré Award is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

Museum of the American Indian

This museum is dedicated to the preservation, study, and exhibition of the life, languages, literature, history, and arts of the American Indian. Many readings, online events, and museum resources are available to educators on this site.

Minneapolis Institute of Arts: Art Adventures

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts' Art Adventure program is an example of a collaborative effort between the museum and the public schools. The program's volunteers visit classrooms with art posters related to a specific theme, such as animals or celebrations. The site offers samples of some of the posters used.

America Reads Spanish

America Reads Spanish is an organization whose main goal is to ensure the availability of Spanish language reading materials in schools and libraries nationwide.

Américas Award

The Américas Award is given in recognition of U.S. works of fiction, poetry, folklore, or selected non-fiction (from picture books to works for young adults) published in the previous year in English or Spanish that authentically and engagingly portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinos in the United States. The award is sponsored by the national Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP).

Cinco Puntos Press

Arte Público Press: Piñata Books
