Transcript

The most effective way that schools can welcome Indigenous families is getting to know them very well, getting to know the culture, getting to know the people, where they’re coming from, getting to know the area, their location, their history, and why they’re here. Having a festival in schools, maybe like a food, share food, or bring your traditional food, traditional dance, traditional your language. Maybe textiles, art. Ask kids to come up with their traditional – with their culture. So getting to know those details, it helps a lot, it helps a lot in U.S. schools to better support Indigenous family. And the more information these families have about the school, the better, you know, the education the kids can get.
