Sounds of the Vowel Valley

Reading consultant Dr. Antonio Fierro of El Paso, Texas, shows where the sounds fall on the vowel valley, a tool for teaching students how the mouth shapes differ for each vowel sound. He reviews the long and short vowels, as well as diphthongs like /oy/ and /ow/, vowel-r sounds like /er/ and /ar/, and the schwa.
