Dr. Elsa Cárdenas-Hagan talks about the importance of making connections between students' languages and English. She explains that teachers don't have to speak their students' languages to make those connections. She also shares some similarities between English and Spanish, challenging English sounds for Spanish speakers, and how students' errors can inform instruction.
